What is coaching?

General
Coaching is all about you, the client. As a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach (CPCC), I approach coaching as a collaborative process, one in which you and I are both fully engaged and committed. As a part of my training, I've learned how not to allow my own ideas or opinions interfere with your goals. You determine what you want to accomplish.

My job is to listen, ask probing questions, brainstorm, help you make concrete plans, when appropriate, and hold you accountable for your actions — all in the service of you achieving what you're committed to. My favorite description of coaching is that it's like having a customized workshop for you on a regular basis. How often in life do we have that opportunity?

Through coaching, you will learn more about yourself and how you handle various aspects of your life. You will also move forward to take action in areas that you may be, shall we say, procrastinating about.

As a co-active coach, I believe that everyone is naturally creative, resourceful, and whole. You are completely capable of finding your own answers to any challenges that face you.

I know what you're thinking right about now — "Okay, Ms. Smarty Coach, if I know everything myself, why the heck would I hire YOU"? Great question. Sad as it may sound, not all of my clients know this about themselves! A good coach has the ability to ask powerful questions, listen intently, reframe what you say, and use other skills that will help you.
