Tip for August 2001

We hear a lot these days about balancing our lives. I'm sure you can relate to that --you probably have a job/business, family, friends, activities, commitments, hobbies.

Take a break for a moment...stand up on one foot. While you're standing this way, be aware of what you're noticing. Now, change feet, and notice what you notice. Finally, stand on the toes of both feet. What do you notice now?

You might notice that:

  • it's hard to achieve balance
  • it requires constant adjustment to remain balanced
  • it's easier to be balanced in some positions than in others

Just as there's a lot going on when you're trying to balance your body, there's a lot going on when you're trying to balance your life. What can this little exercise teach you about balancing your life? Balance is a fluid, dynamic process that requires you to make choices and adjustments over and over again. Life shifts continuously, and fortunately, you have the ability to shift with it.

This month, track the choices and adjustments you make in one area of your life. The important thing to remember is that you can always revisit a decision and make a different choice. If you become comfortable with change, and know that you have control over your decisions and your adjustments, you'll look forward to creating a more satisfying and balanced life.

Don't forget to check out this month's "Eye on You" on the Argus Coaching web site, and please tell your friends and colleagues to stop by the site.

Have a great month.

With an eye on you,
Peggy
