Argus Coaching
Tip for July 2001

Do you ever have the feeling that you're busy all the time, but not accomplishing anything? Or, that you're simply not doing what you're "supposed to" be doing? When was the last time you stopped and checked in with yourself to see how true (or false) that assumption is?

I'd like to suggest that now is a good time to do so. At the end of each day, jot day five things that you've accomplished in the course of the day. No matter how large or small you feel the achievement is, I think you'll be surprised to find that you've accomplished more than you think you have.

We tend to overlook the value of our actions. For example, taking a nap might be an accomplishment one day, while completing the first draft of your novel might be your accomplishment another day. Both can be valuable in our constant quest to maintain a healthy, fulfilling life.

After you've written the list, look it over. How do you feel about it? How can you build upon it? What does it tell you about yourself, your commitments, your energy level, your goals? How can you use today's list to motivate you?

Even on a day when you're not feeling at your peak, I guarantee that you will find things that you've succeeded at. In fact, on that kind of day, it can be even more important to recall your achievements.

If you try this exercise, I'd be interested to know how it's helped you. Please send any comments to me directly or through my web site.

And, don't forget to visit the Argus Coaching web site for this month's "Eye on You."

Have a great month.

With an eye on you,
Peggy
