Argus Coaching Tip for August 2002 Pick a goal, any goal. Choose one you really have for yourself, either in your personal life or your professional life. For this exercise, pick a goal that you just haven't quite gotten around to, yet. The purpose of this exercise is to look at the goal and decide if it continues to be one you want to pursue. Now, what do you do? Great question. I'll ask you a question in return -- what do you WANT to do? What will your life look like when you attain this goal? What will be different? What will you gain? Lose? How will you feel about yourself and your world? How does this goal support your values? Do you have the support you need to take on the goal? Even though the thought of taking the steps toward achieving the goal may feel daunting, be sure to give yourself a chance to envision your life "post-goal." My tip this month is to spend some time answering questions regarding this goal, such as the ones I've posed. After you've done so, reflect on the priority the goal has in your life. Is it a goal that you still want to pursue? If not, consider dropping it from your list of goals, at least for now. If it is, recommit yourself to it and tell your coach what step(s) you're going to take this week to move toward the goal. Have a great month! With an eye on you, |
