Argus Coaching Tip for March 2003 Friends and clients - Before you enter a room full of people - whether it's a party, a meeting, or a presentation - take a few minutes and decide who you want to be when you're in that room and what your goals are for the time you spend in that setting. Do you choose to be at ease or uncomfortable? Relaxed or nervous? Funny or serious? The center of attention or an observer? The approached or the approacher? Understanding that you have the choice to be whoever you want is key to producing your desired outcomes. Try this the next time you're feeling uncertain about why you're going to that networking event, baby shower, or trade show. If you walk in feeling confident about who you are and why you're there, you'll increase your chances of having a great time and feeling that your time was well spent. I'd love to hear how this worked for you. Please send me any comments you have after trying out this tip.
